Absolute Leveling
Folder name: AbsoluteLeveling
Commands: /abs or /absolute
Manual install
Installing by hand
-
Close the game
World of Warcraft only reads the AddOns folder at startup, so quit fully before copying anything.
-
Download and extract the zip
Unzip the download anywhere convenient. Inside you will find a folder named
AbsoluteLeveling. -
Copy the folder into AddOns
Move the
World of Warcraft/_classic_era_/Interface/AddOns/AbsoluteLevelingAbsoluteLevelingfolder into the AddOns folder for the client you play:If your client installs to the
World of Warcraft/_retail_/Interface/AddOns/AbsoluteLeveling_retail_folder instead, use the equivalent path: -
Check the folder name
The folder must be called exactly
AbsoluteLevelingand must sit directly inside AddOns. A common mistake is ending up withAddOns/AbsoluteLeveling/AbsoluteLevelingafter extracting; if that happens, move the inner folder up one level. -
Enable it at character select
Launch the game, click AddOns on the character screen, make sure Absolute Leveling is ticked, and log in.
First run
Tips for your first session
Pick a guide
Type /abs guides and choose a route. The guide for your starting zone is recommended first. When you finish a zone, the panel offers a one-click button to continue with the next one.
Place the panel
Drag the step panel and arrow to where your eyes naturally rest, then lock them from /abs options.
Bind the buttons
Set keybinds for the quest-item and target buttons early. They save more time than any other single habit.
Playing hardcore?
Nothing to switch on: no route ever uses a death skip.
Want to talk to an NPC yourself?
Hold Shift while opening the dialog and auto accept (and auto turn-in, if you switched it on) stay out of it.
Updating?
Replace the AbsoluteLeveling folder, then exit WoW completely and start it again. /reload does not load new files, so new arrows or icons would show blank.
Got lost?
Use /abs prev and /abs next to line the guide back up with what you have actually done.

Stuck on install?
Most problems come down to the folder name or the wrong client folder. If that is not it, we will help.
