What’s new

Release notes for every version of Absolute Leveling, newest first.

v1.4.5

Update

New

  • Share the guide with your group. When someone in your party is on one of your quests, a small window offers a ready-made invite to Absolute Leveling: Copy invite (select and press Ctrl+C) or Send to party. Nothing is ever sent without a click, each person is only offered once per session, and party members who already run Absolute Leveling are recognised and skipped.
  • /abs share opens the invite to copy at any time.
  • Turn the offer off under Options → Automation (“Offer to share the guide in groups”).

v1.4.4

Update

Changed

  • Quests are no longer handed in automatically. You complete them yourself at the quest NPC, so you choose the moment and the reward. Auto turn-in is still available under Options → Automation.
  • Setting your hearth, visiting a vendor or a trainer no longer holds you at that NPC. Once the step’s quests are picked up or handed in, walk about 60 yards away and the guide moves on; you can still do them later.
  • When a step has you pick up a quest and then do it, the arrow and map line switch from the quest giver to the quest’s objective area as soon as you accept it.

Fixed

  • “Go to” steps now advance while you walk instead of waiting for the next quest event.

New

  • A new Absolute Leveling icon in the AddOns list, on the minimap button, the step panel and the settings page.
  • /abs mapcheck reports what the world-map route sees. If the route line is missing on your big map, open the map, type it, and send us the lines it prints.

v1.4.2

Fix

Changed

  • The minimap route line is back on by default. The drawing loops that once froze the game are bounded and stress-tested; you can still switch it off under Options → Navigation.
  • “Leave vendors and trainers to me” now only affects quests at those NPCs. Junk selling, supply buying, flights and hearth binds work there as before.

Fixed

  • Turn-ins for quests that complete the moment you accept them (deliver-an-item quests) no longer disappear from their step. 95 guards were corrected.
  • A step whose quests don’t apply to your character (other faction, quests from a zone you skipped) is skipped instead of waiting for Next.
  • In shared zones the arrow and map line always point at your own faction’s objective.
  • Silverpine no longer waits on Arugal’s Folly on the first trip north.
  • /abs goto uses the same step numbers as the panel.
  • “Most valuable reward” now compares the full stack value.
  • A route recording keeps running through /reload and relogs.
  • The XP bar marker reads the right quest even when quest log headers are collapsed.
  • The 1–60 routes only appear on Classic Era and WoW Forever, not on later Classic versions with a changed world.
  • Imported guides can no longer reach into the addon through their conditions.

v1.4.1

Update

New

  • About window with the version, website and support email (support@absolutegaming.store). Open it from the cog menu, the options window or /abs about; select and press Ctrl+C to copy. The game’s own AddOns settings page shows the same details.
  • Vendors and trainers are left to you: when an NPC also sells, trains, flies or offers other services, the addon no longer opens or accepts quests there, so you can shop and handle the quest yourself. Quest-only NPCs stay automatic. Toggle under Options → Automation → Leave vendors and trainers to me.
  • If some guide files did not load after an update (the game was reloaded instead of restarted), chat now says so.

Changed

  • Only the animated arrow styles remain: Chase and Comet trail. Anyone on a removed style is moved to Chase.
  • The guide list no longer shows any “Coming soon” entries; every listed zone is a full route.

v1.4.0

Major

New

  • The full 1–60 route set: 44 guides covering every starting zone and every zone to 60, for Alliance and Horde, with faction-only steps shown only to that faction.
  • Exact positions: quest givers, hand-ins and objective areas come from the 1.12 world data, so the arrow and map line land on the NPC. Points that named an NPC are snapped to its exact spot.
  • Flight points on the world map for your faction, even in unexplored areas, with new griffon, wind rider and neutral icons. Toggle under Options → Navigation.
  • Arriving at a target now shows green animated chevrons instead of a static check.
  • Flight-path, hearth and “fly” steps point to the right flight master or innkeeper.

Improved

  • Quests already handed in, including before you installed the addon, skip their steps.
  • A quest whose prerequisite is not done yet waits instead of blocking the step.
  • All 1,036 quests in the guides were checked against the 1.12 data for ID, name, faction, class and quest-chain order; wrong quest IDs, a faction mix-up and several out-of-order quest chains were fixed.
  • /abs status also prints the current waypoint and any feature that stopped after an error.

Fixed

  • With full bags, auto-accept no longer loops on a quest that gives an item: the quest window stays open and chat explains why.
  • The world-map route is lifted above every map layer and retries when the map opens.
  • Guide level ranges written as numbers no longer break the picker or menus.

v1.3.8

Update

Improved

  • The whole world map window is now see-through: the frame backdrop, quest log backgrounds and breadcrumb bar backdrop are gone, leaving a hairline edge.
  • The opacity slider now goes from 5% to 100% and fades everything in the window together. The route line, your arrow and the map controls stay at full brightness.
  • New default opacity is 60%. If yours was higher, it is lowered to 60% once; set it wherever you like after that.

v1.3.7

Update

Changed

  • The addon’s website link and README now point to absolutegaming.store, and the support email is support@absolutegaming.store.

v1.3.6

Fix

Fixed

  • The game could stop responding while a route line was drawn. Every route-drawing loop now has a hard limit and skips bad coordinates.
  • The map opacity slider shows its gold handle again, can be dragged, and jumps to wherever you click on the track.
  • The map's title-bar controls no longer climb in frame level each time the map opens.
  • The arrow's glow layer no longer reloads its image every frame.

Changed

  • The minimap route line is now off by default. Turn it on under Options → Navigation → Minimap route line. The minimap waypoint sphere is still on.
  • If a drawing feature (arrow, map route, minimap waypoint, map opacity) hits an error, it switches itself off until /reload and says so once in chat, instead of affecting the rest of the game.

v1.3.5

Update

Improved

  • Brighter waypoint arrow: an additive glow layer and a higher minimum brightness, same design.
  • Your position on the world map is shown with a bright, still gold chevron arrow that turns with you.
  • When the next step is on another continent, the map line runs from you toward it and ends at the map edge with a “To <zone>” marker.

v1.3.4

Update

Fixed

  • Map opacity now fades the whole map window evenly (map, frame, nav bar and quest list) instead of turning the map brown. The route line and the slider stay fully visible.
  • After an update, a one-time chat note reminds you to restart WoW fully so new files load.

v1.3.3

Update

Improved

  • When the next step is on another continent, the arrow still points the way: it aims toward the target zone across the world map and shows the zone name with “travel”.

v1.3.2

Update

New

  • Map and minimap routes now carry a flowing trail of glowing gold chevrons pointing toward the target, over a slim navy and mud-red line.
  • When the current step is on another continent, the guide panel says so and offers to switch to the guide for the zone you are in.
  • Zones still being routed show “Coming soon” in the menus.

v1.3.1

Update

New

  • Opacity slider in the world map’s title bar (drag or mouse wheel, 15–100%). The glass backing fades with it, so the game shows through.
  • The Absolute emblem on the world map now opens the guide and options menu.

v1.3.0

Major update

New guides: Alliance 1–30

  • Human: Northshire Valley, Elwynn Forest, Westfall, Redridge Mountains.
  • Dwarf and gnome: Coldridge Valley, Dun Morogh, Loch Modan.
  • Night elf: Shadowglen, Teldrassil, Darkshore.
  • 20–30: Wetlands, Ashenvale, Duskwood.
  • 13 guides, 445 steps and 324 quests, each zone linked to the next.

New

  • “Set waypoint here” in the cog menu (or /abs here) saves your position as the current step’s waypoint; /abs fixes exports them.

v1.2.2

Update

New

  • Five waypoint arrow styles: Chase and Comet trail (animated), Pulse, Solid gold with shimmer, and Royal. Pick one from the cog menu (Arrow Style) or Advanced Options. Animations speed up as you close in.

v1.2.1

Update

New

  • World map in the Absolute style: Blizzard’s wood and parchment frame is replaced with the smoked-glass panel; text, quest list and buttons stay crisp while only the map picture is see-through.

Fixed

  • Resize grip is drawn above the quest log panel, so the corner can be grabbed.
  • The route line stays fully visible on a translucent map.

v1.2.0

Update

New

  • Loch Modan 12–18 (Alliance) guide: 42 steps covering Algaz Station, Thelsamar, the Valley of Kings, Silver Stream Mine, Farstrider Lodge and Ironband’s Excavation.

Fixed

  • World map drag strip and resize grip now sit above the map border, so they can be seen and used.
  • World map is translucent by default (75%) and Blizzard’s fade-while-moving no longer overrides the setting.
  • Map route stops at the map edge when the target is in another zone, with a “To <zone>” marker.
  • One part of the addon failing to start no longer stops the rest from loading.

v1.1.1

Update

New

  • World map is translucent (solid while the mouse is over it), movable by its title bar and resizable from a corner grip. Right-click the grip to reset.
  • New World Map section in Advanced Options: on/off, opacity, solid on mouse-over.

v1.1.0

Update

New

  • Settings cog on the panel emblem opens a menu with recommended guides, every level bracket and quick options.
  • Stop a guide at any time from the cog menu or with /abs stop.
  • All brackets from 1 to 60 are listed at any level; zones without a route yet start the route recorder for that zone.
  • Bold navy and mud-red route line on the world map and minimap, with a yellow sphere on the target.
  • New gold-and-enamel waypoint arrow.

v1.0.0

First release

New

  • Step panel with live quest objectives, manual marks (right-click a task) and an "Up next" preview.
  • Waypoint arrow that shifts from amber to cyan as you close in, with an arrival badge.
  • Animated route on the world map with a destination ring and numbered pins for upcoming steps, plus a minimap pin.
  • Auto accept and turn-in for guide quests only (hold Shift to bypass), junk selling, supply buying, flight and hearth automation.
  • Keybindable quest-item, hearthstone and target buttons.
  • XP bar marker for XP waiting in completed quests.
  • Hardcore realms detected automatically; death-skip steps removed.
  • Route recorder (/abs record) and guide import (/abs import).
  • Northshire Valley 1–6 starter guide, free.
